Mr. Bernie Burrola currently serves as U.S. Executive Director of the U.S.-Indonesia Joint Council on Higher Education Partnership. In this position he works with both the public and private sectors in the United States and Indonesia to increase higher educational ties between both countries. Prior to working for the Joint Council, Bernie was the program officer responsible for Southeast Asia within the Office of Global Educational Programs at the U.S. Department of State. In this position he worked with both the public and private sectors to ensure quality educational advising was provided for students interested in study in the United States.
Before working for the State Department, Mr. Burrola was the Assistant Dean of Admission at Claremont McKenna College in California and also served on the Admission Committee for the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy at Tufts University. Bernie was a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in Cape Verde, West Africa where he served as a secondary school English teacher. He earned his Bachelors Degree in International Relations & Spanish from Claremont McKenna College and his Masters Degree in Development Economics from The Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy at Tufts University.
